Interested in becoming a volunteer?
Orange Park Acres Equine Therapy is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our team and assist with a variety of tasks around the stables and with our horses.
Primary Responsibilities
Volunteers play a vital role in keeping our operations running smoothly. Key duties include:
- Cleaning stalls and maintaining a tidy stable environment.
- Grooming horses to ensure they are clean and prepared for therapy sessions.
- Assisting with arena setup for daily sessions.
- Handling and walking horses between the stables and arena.
- Feeding and caring for horses under staff supervision.
- Showering and refreshing horses as needed.
This role can be physically demanding and typically involves standing for extended periods and lifting up to 20 pounds.
Commitment and Scheduling
We provide equine therapy services year-round, with Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer sessions. As such, we are in need of regularly scheduled volunteers who can commit throughout the year.
Training and Preparation
To ensure the safety of our volunteers and the well-being of our horses, we offer a comprehensive orientation process. This includes training on safety protocols, horse-handling techniques, and basic stable management. These sessions not only prepare volunteers for their roles but also help them develop valuable skills for working with horses.
Additional Opportunities
Beyond assisting with equine therapy programs, volunteers can also contribute to event planning, fundraising, and administrative tasks. These additional areas provide a well-rounded experience and allow volunteers to use their unique skills and talents to support our mission.
